We regret to have to announce the death of FREDERIC
CLAY. He was born in Paris, August 3, 1840, and studied
music chiefly under Molique. The greater part of his compositions were
written for the stage, but he also composed two Cantatas, "The Knights
of the Cross" and "Lalla Rookh," besides a number of songs, many of which
have attained a wide popularity. For some time previous to his death he
was afflicted with paralysis. He died at his residence, Oxford House, Great
Marlow, on the 24th ult.
