In August 2008 Severnside Theatre Ensemble is
presenting the European Premiere of John F. Delorey's musical
documentary-drama Witchwife: Requiem for Susanna Martinin Worcester, England, starring Joan Self as Susanna
Martin, Sue Black as Mabel Martin and Claire Johnson
as Mercy Lewis. Also featuring Eleanor
Peberdy and Tim Johnson.
Witchwife tells the true story
of the trial of Susanna Martin, who was accused of witchcraft
and executed during the Salem Witch Trials of 1692. The drama
unfolds in words and music of the period.
The first half of the evening's programme will consist of modern interpretations of the Susanna Martin story, including the World Première of a New-Age Soundscape by Coventry musician Stein Fletcher
and an Audiovisual "Witchwife Prelude" by Coventry musician Kevin Austin.
Performance dates are 15-16
August 2008 at 7.30pm.

Composer/Arranger John
F. Delorey is a direct descendant of Susanna Martin.
He is currently Director of Choral Activities
and Adjunct Professor of Music at Worcester Polytechnic
Institute in Worcester, Massachusetts.
On the death of Bruce I. Miller in 2003,
Prof. Delorey spent the academic year 2003-4 as Interim
Director of Choral Activities at College of the Holy Cross.
He is also a professional singer (countertenor
and tenor) and conductor, and runs his own music business.
